Janet Haufler Obituary
Janet Lee Smith Haufler, age 73, passed away Friday morning, February 16, at home in San Antonio surrounded by her family. She was born to Jarvis Carey Smith and Ruby Emily Myers Smith in Alice, Texas. She graduated from William Adams High School in Alice, TX and went on to graduate from Texas A & I University in Kingsville where she met her future husband. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, August, of San Antonio, one son, Tony and wife Julie, two beautiful granddaughters, Mikaela and Jenna Jo, all of Kilgore, TX. She is also survived by brother, Mike Smith of San Antonio and sister, Judy Luedemann and husband Bill of Houston, many cousins, nieces and nephews. Janet was a loving wife, mother, and "Oma". She found great pleasure visiting with her granddaughters. She enjoyed her teaching career of 31 years teaching elementary school in the San Antonio Independent School District. Janet had many interests including fishing, traveling and dancing and was an avid book reader. A memorial service will be conducted at Alamo Heights Baptist Church, 6501 Broadway, Alamo Heights, TX, on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018 at 2:00 PM, Bro. Charles Simons, officiating. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to the charity of your choice.

Dear August,Tony,Julie, Mikaela and Jenna Jo, I am deeply saddened by the loss of your beloved wife, mother, Oma and my forever friend, Janet! She was an awesome friendly person who was always happy to see and be with her many friends!!!!!!! Janet was always fun to be with throughout the many years I was blessed to know her!
