BILLY SHOPSHIRE Billy James Shopshire, age 86 of Boulder City, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, June 9, 2019. Bill was born January 5, 1933 in Monroe, MI, to the late Horace Jackson and Nellie Florence (Cadle) Shopshire. He later moved to California where he met his wife, Lydia Vergara. They married March 3, 1962. Bill and Lydia moved to Boulder City in 1971 where they raised their four children. Bill was a beloved friend, father, and grandfather. Those who knew "Papa Bill" were kept entertained by his sense of humor. He could be seen riding around town in his black 1985 Mercedes (or in later years his motorized scooter), at local sporting events, or at the grocery storeall of which were usually accompanied by his grandchildren. In addition to his family, Bill loved old western movies, sports, and visiting with friends. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Brooks; and his brothers, Robert and John "Jay" Shopshire. Bill is survived by his wife, Lydia; sons, Michael, Preston, and Roger; his daughter, Cheryl (Robert) Herr; siblings, Wilma "Bootsie" (Wayne) Asher, Joe Shopshire; grandchildren, Emma, Nolan, and Raegan Herr; and many nieces and nephews. While Bill will be missed dearly, his family finds comfort in the thought of him laughing with the angels. A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Fri., June 28, at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 812 Arizona St., Boulder City, NV 89005. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Christopher's. Family and friends can sign an online memorial guestbook at www.bouldercityfamilymortuary.com

Our heavenly father has given us a life span of 70-80 years if we are especially strong. May you celebrate a life well lived and loved by many. May the words of Psalm 90:10,14 and 94:19 bring comfort to the family
