Bonnie Alleman Obituary

SHAMOKIN - Bonnie Lou Carpenter Alleman died at her residence unexpectedly Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021.

She graduated from Shamokin High School Class of 1965, then went on to graduate from Empire Beauty School as a state certified hairdresser.

She was married to the love of her life, Roger N, Alleman, on March 19, 1966, who survives.

She ran her own beauty shop for many years before taking a job at Geisinger Medical Center, where she worked for 26 years. In her retirement, she received a call to ministry and began serving as lay pulpit supply at Emmanuel United Methodist Church. She then became a licensed local pastor within the United Methodist Church and took on Oak Grove United Methodist Church also.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxillary, the Cecilian singing Club and participated in the Cardiac Capers. She was blessed with a voice that took her all the way to states for chorus in high school.

Bonnie was first and foremost a person who loved the Lord. She spent her entire lifetime serving him: attending church, teaching Sunday school, disciple classes, singing in the choir, leading youth groups and vacation Bible school. This led to her serving in ministry at Emmanuel and Oak Grove. It was her faith that carried her through her most difficult times. Even while she was sick you would find her witnessing and praying for others.

Her love for the Lord spilled out into every aspect of her life. She loved her husband, children, grandchildren and family. Bonnie created memories and traditions that will carry on, such as baking Christmas cookies and dying Easter eggs on Good Friday, which turned into a neighborhood event. She was proud to give her traditional first haircuts and signature crooked bangs for everyone. She could always be found at her children and grandchildren's sporting events, "gently" harassing and telling the referees what they were doing wrong. She may have been told once or twice to get off the mat or told to sit down and be quiet. All these memories created a "Legacy of Love" that we will be cherished forever.

Surviving family members include, a son, Nelson R. Alleman and his spouse, Traci Alleman, and their family; a grandson, Wade W. Alleman and his spouse, Marissa, and their son, Kian Alleman; a grandson, Uriah Alleman and his spouse, Britany; a daughter, Michele Lee and Jack Chapman their family; a granddaughter, Abby Chapman and her fiancé, Jared Montgomery; a grandson, Jack Chapman and his girlfriend, Hannah Bozza; two granddaughters, Mia and Ava Chapman; a son, Wade Earl Alleman and his companion, Jill Scicchitano, and their family; three grandsons, Wade R., Reese and Casey Alleman; and in-laws, Molly (Alleman) Paczkowski and the late Dennis Paczkowski, Barrie Kay (Alleman) Brocious and the late Albert Brocious, Nelson C.
