Charlotte Cohn Obituary

Charlotte E. F. Rosenbleeth Cohn, age 76, long-time resident of Fort Walton Beach, FL lost her battle with Alzheimer's Disease on October 31, 2019 at Hebrew Home of Greater Washington in Rockville, MD. Born February 21, 1943 in Boston, Massachusetts to Robert M and Evelyn M (Reck) Rosenbleeth while Robert was serving in the Army Air Corps during World War II, Charlotte was a typical Army brat, living in many locations around the world, including Boston, London, Biloxi and Fort Walton Beach, FL until her father retired from the US Air Force as a Staff Sergeant in 1958 and the family settled in Miami.

Graduating from North Miami Senior High School in 1961, Charlotte began a life-long love of live theater, performing with the Hollywood Playhouse in Hollywood FL. Charlotte married Norman L Cohn in June 1962 in Miami, where they later welcomed son Martin (1965), daughter Barbara (1966) and son Adam (1971). The family relocated to Fort Walton Beach in 1976, which was her home for the next 30 years.

Charlotte and the whole Cohn family became active in Stage Crafters Community Theatre, where she became a fixture in the organization, performing in and directing many shows over the next three decades and serving on the board of directors, including the position of President.

Charlotte earned her real estate sales license in 1977 and her Broker's license in 1979 and was well known in local real estate circles, working first for Betty Fackender Realty and later Century 21 Wimco Realty for many years. She was active in the Emerald Coast Association of Realtors and enjoyed teaching the Ethics course to new agents, sharing her story of a bad deal that inspired her to enter the profession in order to do better for others. Charlotte especially loved the challenge of helping first time buyers and military families find the perfect home. She retired in 2006 and relocated to Reston, VA.

Charlotte excelled at beating the odds, whether it was on the slot machines in Vegas and Biloxi which she frequented with her beloved "Vegas Group" of friends from Fort Walton Beach, or surviving two battles with breast cancer in the 1980s, as well as knocking out lung cancer after two rounds in the 1990s and early 2000s. In fact, Charlotte outlived several doctors who had been predicting her imminent demise for the past 40 or so years.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her partner of over 30 years, Sheila Cole-Sherman, her parents and her sister-in-law, Carol Rosenbleeth. Charlotte is survived by her children: Martin Cohn of Orlando, FL, Barbara Rizk of Portland, OR and Adam (Laura Beth) Cohn of Winter Garden, FL; brothers Arnold Rosenbleeth of Pensacola, FL and Michael (Susan) Rosenbleeth of Atlanta, GA; Sheila's children, Fraser (LeAnn), Tracy and Craig Sherman; former spouse Norman (Laura) Cohn, nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, three nieces, a nephew, extended family and countless friends.

Charlotte's final curtain call (celebration of life service) will be held in Fort Walton Beach, FL at the Stage Crafters Community Theatre 'warehouse' at 40 Robinwood Dr SW on Saturday December 14, 2019 at 3:00pm (Central Standard Time). In lieu of flowers, donations in Charlotte's memory may be made to Charles E. Smith Life Communities of Rockville, MD which provided excellent care to her during the past four years or to Stage Crafters Community Theatre, Inc. of Fort Walton Beach.

Charlotte sold me a home 35 years ago. We are still in it today. I loved the time I spent with her in the Stagecrafter's shows I performed in.
