Cindy Best Obituary

Cindy Lou Erickson Best
8/7/2020
Cindy was born December 20, 1957 to Vernon (Rick) and June Erickson in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She graduated from Skyline High in 1976 and shortly thereafter moved to Boise to attend BSU. She was hired 1978 at Idahy Federal C.U. later becoming ICON C.U. This was her career starting as a receptionist with 5 employees and retiring in 2019 as Senior Loan Underwriter. While visiting Idaho Falls over Easter in 1979, she was contacted by Kevin Best an old schoolmate from junior high and high school asking for a ride back to Boise. From that day forward they were soulmates, marrying April 10, 1982. This union was not supported by either of their families and they eloped and were married at the county court house by the justice of the peace in Elko, Nevada in front of close friends. Out of their love for each other they had one child, the love of her life, Shelley Best. She was the best mom in the entire world. Cindy enjoyed sewing, planting flowers, caring for her house plants, camping, shopping secondhand/antique stores and cats (having one throughout her life) but what she most liked was traveling. Cindy and Kevin traveled over most of the western states sightseeing, including following highway 1 from the boarders of Canada to Mexico. We would especially like to thank all of her close friends whom she loved dearly; you know who you are. She will be missed by all who knew her, especially her husband and daughter. We will always love you!

During the summer of 1982 I traveled to Boise with Grandma Best and we stayed with Kevin and Cindy. That's when I met her. She was so sweet, loving and welcoming to us showing us the sights. Grandma and I took a bus round trip from Nebraska. On the trip back home Grandma was so happy we went and talked about how much fun she had, in part thanks to Cindy's loving sweet ways. It's certainly a trip I have never forgotten. I know she will be missed by many who knew her better than this Nebraska cousin and I am so glad she made you so happy Kevin. Thoughts are with you and Shelly.

My mom was the best! All she ever wanted was to be a mom and I am what she got! She was always there to get me out of a pickle if I needed to. I swear to god that she would bring herself back from the dead if I asked her to. She was funny, smart, courageous, loving, amazing and wonderful. I know she is proud of me. She was my confidant, best friend and biggest supporter. I will never get over her loss. She will be with me every step of the way for the rest of my life. I love you, mom!

When I joined Idahy Credit Union in 1980 Cindy was the first person I met. She had a ready smile, was caring, and genuine. Even though I was just a customer I felt we were friends, she always made me feel welcome. The world is just a little colder now.

We did not know Cindy well, but knew she was Kevin's love. He always spoke of her highly. When I was introduced to her I knew why Kevin loved her so much. She was a wonderful person and glowed from the inside out with love and care. Our thoughts and prayers are with Kevin and their wonderful daughter, Shelly as they go through this difficult time. May the many of the great memories of her bring you peace.
Sincerely,
Carla and Rod

Oh Baby, Baby, Baby, Sweetheart, I miss you more than ever. Shelley and I will be fine but we will never be able to get past the love of our lives. One of the last conversations you had with me you stated that “we need each other” and I need you back home and with me more than ever. I love you Honey!
