ARISTES - Dawn C. Baurys, 88, of 30 S. Main St., passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
She was born in Aristes, Nov. 11, 1932, a daughter of the late George E. Raker Jr. and the late Alma G. (Kostenbauder) Raker.
She was a 1950 graduate of the former Conyngham-Centralia Joint High School (Con-Cen), Aristes. She also graduated from the Geisinger School of Nursing and successfully passed the state nursing boards, becoming a registered nurse in 1955.
On Nov. 24, 1955, at the United Methodist Church, Aristes, she married George H. Baurys, who preceded her in death Oct. 11, 2015.
Earlier in life, Dawn worked as a registered nurse at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. She then devoted her time to her family and raising her children. She also owned and operated the former Dawn Baury's Ceramics, Aristes, for many years. She truly enjoyed the time spent with the people that visited her shop.
She was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church, Aristes, and the Order of the Eastern Star, Sunbury.
Surviving are two sons, Mark G. Baurys and his wife, Sherry, of Lattimer Mines, and Karl J. Baurys and his wife, Vicki Bissonette Baurys, of Aristes; three grandchildren, Lonnie, Leah and Christopher; two great-grandchildren, Autumn and Ariah; and nieces, nephews and their families and many friends.
BAURYS - Dawn C. Baurys, 88, of 30 S. Main St., Aristes. Funeral services will be private and interment will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Numidia, at the convenience of the family.
