HAW RIVER - Emma Jean Vanhook, 62 transitioned on August 4, 2020 at her residence. She was the daughter of Roger Adam Torain and Pattie Sue Dillehay Torain.
Emma was employed at Wal-Mart as a stocker. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, crafting and sewing. She loved her grandkids and enjoyed helping others. She had a big heart. She would often do for others before doing for herself.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her children: Christopher Vanhook (Thyda) of California, Kathy Vanhook (Basim) and Chandra Vanhook (Donnie) both of Burlington; her mother: Patty Sue Torain; siblings: Wilbert Torain of Mebane, Robert Torain of Prospect hill, Thomas "Buck" Torain of Haw River, Abraham Torain of Prospect Hill and Catherine Moore of Burlington; five grandchildren, a special friend: Bobby Vanhook and a host of relatives, family and friends.
You may sign the guestbook from 10am-6pm on Saturday, August 8, 2020 in the Mary Blackwell Chapel of Blackwell Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Condolences may be sent to blackwellfuneral.com. Services entrusted to Blackwell Funeral Home.

Praying that God will comfort and strengthen you during this difficult time. Emma and I were childhood friends at Sweet Gum Elementary School. She was such a kind and loving person. I will cherish memories of our times together. God bless each of you.
