Forest Marchal Obituary

Forest Augustine Marchal

Evansville, Ind. - Forest Augustine Marchal, 94, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on November 6, 2019 at Golden Living Nursing Home in Tell City, Indiana. He was pre-deceased by his wife of 68 years, Betty, who passed away on April 9, 2019.

Forest was born in Tell City on December 8, 1924 to the late Joseph C. and Flossie (Wilburn) Marchal. Forest was a graduate of Evansville Business College. He worked at International Harvester (before Whirlpool bought the property), Kent Plastics (later bought by Ball Corp, as Ball Plastics), and Weiser Oil Company. Forest was active in his middle years with the Men's Club at St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Boy Scouts with his sons Keith and Jeff. He enjoyed camping and his family spent many great weekends camping at Lincoln State Park in southern Indiana. Those camping trips were very relaxing for the whole family.

Forest was an Army veteran having served in Europe during World War II. He received several commendations for his service, including a field promotion to captain just prior to his severance from the service.

He is survived by his daughter, Rachel Seltzer of Tell City, IN; sons Keith Marchal (Linda) of Indianapolis, IN; Jeff Marchal (Robinell) of West Palm Beach, FL; sister-in-law, Carolyn J. Wilkinson of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Jason Seltzer of Evansville, IN, Darius Marchal (Sandra), Daniel Marchal both of Jupiter, FL., and Evan Marchal of NC; great-grandchildren, Jerrius Seltzer of Evansville, IN and Peyton Marchal of Jupiter, FL; and many nieces and nephews.

Those who knew Forest knew him as a quiet, private man. In keeping with his wishes there will not be a service for Forest. He often said, "Just bury me", which was completely consistent with his private nature.

His family is certain that Forest would not suggest any memorial contributions, but his family encourages donations to any association that works with Alzheimer's research or care anyway. Sadly, Forest was badly affected by the disease for the last few years and it has been hard for his children to watch his awful decline.
