I grew up across the street on East Henrietta Rd from The Barkers Turkey Farm as a child. I have fond memories - playing with Sue and Bev at their home and in the barn. After turkey season was over Mr Barker would set up an ice skating rink in the turkey barn so we could skate. He sometimes took us to the fair which was fun. Mr Barker would drive us to junior choir practice at The United Church of Christ in Henrietta. He was a kind and caring man.

I worked at the fairgrounds from 1973 to 1977. All thru high school. The Dome was just built and it was a great place to work.
Mr. Barker was an icon. Tall man with a brush cut, suit with a bolo tie. Dont forget the Lincoln Town car. Yellow I think it was.
There were a few very large mice in building 1. I took to trapping them and piling them up on the side of the building. Mr. Barker saw them and said Ole boy, maybe you could pile them up elsewhere.
Respectfully

George was a steadying influence on the Monroe County Fair during a difficult and turbulent time. A resource and advisor, without an agenda. I trusted his advice. And he was always a gentleman.
