Mocny, James L. 9/24/1928 - 9/15/2020 Frankenmuth, Michigan. James passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at Ascension St. Mary's Hospital; age 91. James was born in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Casimir and Ruth (Heindel) Mocny. He was married to Donna Lou Schiefer on July 2, 1949 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Saginaw. She predeceased him on November 3, 2011. James retired in 1987 from General Motors Corp. Saginaw Steering Gear Division. He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Saginaw. James is survived by five sons: Michael Mocny, Joseph Mocny, John (Susan) Mocny, Theodore Mocny and Edward (Donna) Mocny; ten grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; two brothers: Richard (Nancy) Mocny, Robert (Toshie) Mocny; and one sister-in-law, Milda Persons. FUNERAL: A funeral liturgy for James will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 3945 Williamson Road, Saginaw. Rev. Fr. John Mancini, OSFS will officiate with rite of committal to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. VISITATION: Family and friends will gather on Friday, September 18, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road, Saginaw (off State Street) and on Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. In keeping with State Mandated Guidelines masks will be required, social distancing will be observed and limitations on the number in attendance will be enforced. MEMORIALS: Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a donation to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. I remember working with Jim back in the late 60's in the Engineering Garage in Plant 3. He was a great guy, very kind and funny.
