James Clifford Poole Jr, 88, of Helena, AL passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2021. "Jim" was born on October 18, 1932 in Brent, Alabama to James C. Poole and Sarah Miriam (Reaves) Poole. In 1957 he married Marcelline Saffran Poole, his wife of 62 years. They had five children, 13 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren with another on the way. Jim graduated from Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn University) in 1954 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He served three years in the Navy as a commissioned officer after graduation. In 1957 he married the love of his life, Marcie. They settled in Alabama when Jim started his job at Alabama Power. Jim retired in 1989 after more than 30 years. In retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling with Marcie, watching the grandchildren play sports, and all things Auburn. Jim enjoyed woodworking and was known for his green thumb. His gift of gardening was very evident in his beautiful plants and his yard. "Pop" will be remembered by us as the Patriarch of "our crazy family" and lovingly as a great man. Preceded in death by his wife Marcelline Poole in February 2019, his parents; one daughter, Sarah Catherine P. Swimelar (Jim); and one brother, Carl M. Poole (Mary Helen) and two brother in-laws, Tommie Moore and Ronald Perry. Survivors include one daughter, Deborah P. McCorkle; three sons, James Clifford Poole III (Cheri), Michael Andrew Poole (Vanessa), and Joseph Patrick Poole (Amanda); grandchildren, Melissa Whitfield (Andrew), Ashleigh Endicott (Jeff), James Poole, Kevin Swimelar (Brittany), Matthew Palmier (Cynthia), Daniel McCorkle, Jessica Fitzgerald (Ben), Brian Swimelar, Katie Swimelar, Sara Poole, Max Poole, Alex Poole, and Joseph Poole; great-grandchildren, Caleb Whitfield, Eli Whitfield, Zachary Whitfield, Annabelle Endicott, Adleigh Endicott, Marilyn Palmier, and Ansley Swimelar; two sisters, Annie Ruth Moore (Tommy), Carliene Perry (Ronald); and one brother, Larry Poole (Joy). A mass of Christian Burial will be held February 18, 2021 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church located at 4600 Preserve Parkway in Hoover, Alabama. Father John Fallon, pastor, and Father Mugagga Epah, associate pastor will officiate. In lieu of flowers contributions in his name can be made to Pine Grove Baptist Church, 125 County Road 44, Brent, Alabama 35034. Service will be live streamed on the Prince of Peace Facebook page at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 18, 2021. I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Mr. Poole. I only knew him through a smile, a wave or a friendly hello. Even from a distance he and Mrs.Poole gave off an aura of just good people. God Bless
