Leo Soloman Tallent, 59, of Pascagoula, MS, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 15, 2019 after a long battle with lung cancer. He was born on February 8, 1960, to the late Virgil Lee and Minnie Faye Tallent in Ellisville, MS. Leo was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a long time employee of Ingall's Shipbuilding. He was a very faithful member and servant of Escatawpa Baptist Church where he was well-known as the "Candy Man." He had a special place in his heart for Harley Davidson's and antique cars, but most of all, he loved his five children and 8 grandchildren. Leo will be remembered as a loving husband, father, Paw Paw, brother, and friend. Along with his parents, Leo is preceded in death by his brothers, Leon Tallent, his twin, David Tallent, and Jimmy Tallent, and his sisters, Joyce Hammond, Johnny Faye Brewer, Meada Binion, and Debra Pullin. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Patty Tallent; children, Shane (Sara) Johnson, Shauna (Tim) Hale, James (Kimberly) Tallent, Thomas Tallent, and Wesley (Annah) McLendon; grandchildren, Kayla, Haydn, Christie, Ethan, Audrey, Jake, Oliver, and Atticus; sisters, Mary Jeanne (Lester) Godwin and Ann Brown; brother Lee (Donna) Tallent; brothers-in-law, Randy (Debbie) McLendon and Terry (Trish) McLendon; and his beloved fur baby, Max; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. The visitation for Leo will be held Thursday, September 19, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Moss Point, MS. The funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel beginning at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Matt Morse of Escatawpa Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Serene Memorial Gardens with his nephews Leon Tallent, Jr., Russell Tallent, Jeffrey Brewer, Stacy Wilson, Sean Binion, Derek Binion, and Brian Pullin serving as pallbearers. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, please send donations to Escatawpa Baptist Church in memory of Leo Soloman Tallent. Leo was a great shipbuilder and friend, he always went above and beyond requirements to ensure the task of job could be completed. Many times he would spend his own money to obtain items necessary to get task completed now when system would take days or weeks. His performance supported getting the initial NSCs delivered on schedule and budget. I missed him when he got sick and always hoped he could come back.
