Loren (Garry) Johnson passed away suddenly from natural causes on January 26, 2021. Garry was born in Willmar, Minnesota, and after graduating high school, he joined the U.S. Army.
When he left the military, he and his family moved out west to Missoula, Montana, where he started Mountain West Electric. He sold his company to Consolidated Electrical Distributors and moved his family to Spokane.
Upon retiring in 2003, he purchased a restaurant (GJ's) in Port Angeles. He sold the restaurant and moved back to Spokane in 2015 to be near his five children, eleven grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Garry has always had a passion for painting. His love of the outdoors is evident in his various beautiful landscapes. He was supremely talented.
Garry's father, Loren, instilled in him a great love of hunting and fishing of which many stories were born. He was also quite a golfer, skier, traveler, "avid" sports fan and the guy that's game for anything his kids could cook up for him.
He is preceded in death by his second wife, Rhea; his parents, Loren and Elsie Johnson; brother, Doug Johnson; sister, Sharon Johnson; daughter, Lisa Byron; and two grandchildren, Ashley McAnally and Charles Johnson.
He is survived by two sisters, Carol Walker of Willmar, Minnesota and Jerrilyn (Greg) Scheytt of Florence, Montana; five children, Jeff(Barbara) Johnson, Steve (Kimberly) Johnson, Cori Thompson, Sherry (William) Keener and Cindy (Calvin) Akins; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren whom he held most dear.
An internment and memorial for Garry will be held in Montana at a later date. He is already greatly missed by us all. We love you, Dad.
