Rachel M. (Jones) Laplante, 94, formerly of Holyoke, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, February 9, 2021. She passed into Eternal Life at Willimansett Center East in Chicopee surrounded by all the memories she loved and cherished. She was born in Richmond, Virginia on October 19, 1926, a beloved daughter of the late John J. Jones, Jr. and Mary A. (Faison) Jones. She was raised Richmond, VA, moved to Burlington, VT in 1943 where she lived until moving to Holyoke in 1956 where she lived the remainder of her life. Rachel was employed for many years at the former Leelyn Plastics Company in Holyoke. She was member of the former Grace Congregational Church in Holyoke. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and soul mate of 32 years, Philip W. Laplante who was Called Home on May 12, 1976. She leaves her two loving daughters, Betty M. Larson of Macks Creek, MO and Patricia A. Gallant of Chicopee; her four cherished grandchildren, David Larson, Eric Larson and his wife, Kelli, Todd Gallant and his wife, Willow, and Tricia Barnard and her husband, Nathan; her seven cherished great grandchildren; her loving son-in-law, David M. Guilmette of Chicopee; her dear brother, Raymond B. Jones of Sandston, VA; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended family members. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her beloved son, William E. Laplante; her loving daughter, Eileen F. (Laplante) Guilmette; her two loving sons-in-law, David C. Gallant and David Larson. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2021 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Prayer Service at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Her burial will follow the Service at Forestdale Cemetery, 304 Cabot Street, Holyoke, MA 01040. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home for a WALK-THRU Visitation on Thursday, February 18, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. before the Service. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Please note that masks are required, social distancing must be observed and the funeral home and cemetery attendance are limited due to state regulations.
