Andre Mark Hedrick
Resident of Concord
Andre Mark Hedrick was born September 28, 1966. He was the only child of Howard and Norma Hedrick.
As a result of his work in automating the telescope cameras at Vanderbilt University, he became a kernel-level programmer of the Linux operating system and found a professional home in the Silicon Valley.
Despite his gregarious nature and loving family, Andre struggled with his own inner demons, demons that led him to take his own life on July 13, 2012. He is survived by wife Valerie, sons, Calvin, Mark, and Rhys, and a daughter, Patti.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service to be held on Friday, July 27 2012, at 4 PM at the First Presbyterian Church of Berkeley, 2407 Dana St., Berkeley, CA 94704.
If so desired, memorial gifts may be made to: Andre Hedrick Memorial Fund, 5100 B-1 Clayton Rd. # 293, Concord, CA 94521

I just went to find Andre to send him an email here at work only to discover he was no longer with Cisco. When I searched on his name, I found this very sad news. I'm so sorry for your loss. He was delightful to work with. A real character, but always dedicated to creating the best technology. We shall all miss him very much.
