Betty Jean Flores, 78, of Myrtle Beach, SC passed away peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by family on Friday, March 9, 2018.
Mrs. Flores was born in Florence, SC in April of 1939. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Matthews and Era Irene Inman.
Surviving are her husband, Rudolph Flores; son, Joseph R. Flores; grandson, Noah Flores all of Myrtle Beach and her two brothers, Danny Matthews of Effingham and Billy and wife Gloria Matthews of Florence.
She was a loving mother that never met a child she didn't love. Although only having a 7th grade education, she spent most of her life as a manager everywhere she lived. She was highly respected and loved by those she worked with. Her southern charm and hospitality had an impact on everyone that was lucky enough to cross her path.
The family asks that instead of flowers being sent, that donations be made to either the Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church, 302 Hibben Street, Attention Hope House, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464 or to Tidelands Community Hospice, 2591 N. Fraser Street, Georgetown, SC 29440.
The family will receive friends from 12 – 2 PM Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home, 2402 S. Irby Street, Florence, SC with graveside services to be held at 2:30 PM Saturday at Florence Memorial Gardens. The family will also receive friends after the service at the residence of Billy and Gloria Matthews, 440 Tierra Drive, Florence.
