Doris Horton CONCORD Doris Loraine Rex Horton, 84, of Concord, formerly of Mooresville, passed away, Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, after a period of declining health. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord on Monday, Oct. 22, from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. in the chapel with the Rev. Jeff Rushing officiating. Burial will be on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 10 a.m. at Glenwood Memorial Park, Mooresville. Ms. Horton was born on Oct. 21, 1927, in Rowan County, to the late Frank Rex and Mae Waller Rex. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Carmon Horton, Sr., in 1990; and two sisters, Lucille Evans and Shirley Fesperman. Ms. Horton is survived by her son, Joe Horton, Jr. and wife, Pat, of Concord; daughter, Lisa Harwell and husband, Bruce, of Mooresville; grandchildren, Caroline Harwell, Dale and Brian Furr; and three great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to CMC-Northeast Foundation, Hospice of Cabarrus, 920 Church St., Concord, NC 28025. Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord is serving the Horton family.
