GERALD “Jerry” OATES, 74, of Millington, owner of Oates Glass in Millington, died December 27, 2009. The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, and services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, both at Munford Funeral Home, Millington Chapel. Interment will be in Kerrville-Presbyterian Cemetery. Mr. Oates was a former Millington Police officer and fire fighter, member of Kerrville Presbyterian Church, avid sportsman and a NRA Golden Eagle. He leaves a daughter, Angela “Angie” Oates Fleming, Drummonds, TN; one sister, Nell Oates Miller of Kerrville, TN; one brother, E. M. “Bud” Oates of Millington, TN; one grandson, Tyler-Wayne Fleming of Drummonds, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Bea Oates. Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Munford Funeral Home Millington Chapel (901)873-0123

My brother, Mack Rice was a friend for life with Jerry. It is a difficult task to loose your loved ones.

So very sorry to know this - we missed Jerry At mothers funeral (end of October)
Jerry was a life-time family friend
He worked with Dad back in the 50's -
Jr McGee also at McGee's Body Shop - All the glass work -- and he always was around-
The last good visit I had with Jerry was at Dad's funeral Feb 2007 - But talked to him several times later --
HE WILL BE MISSED
