Helen Katherine Roberts, 90, of Altus, passed away Thursday afternoon, Sept. 11, 2014, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus.
Mrs. Roberts was born in Altus on Dec. 19, 1923, to Ira and Mary (Fletcher) Gray. A graduate of Lincoln High School in Altus, Helen later married Floyd Roberts and worked at Wilbarger General Hospital in Vernon, Texas, as a nurse's aide for many years. With her husband's failing health, she quit to care for him prior to his death on Nov. 17, 1985. In her spare time, Helen enjoyed coloring, working crossword puzzles and word searches.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd; her son, Harold Joe Phillips; one brother, Ira Gray, Jr.; and one sister, Claudie Mae Gould.
She is survived by three special nieces, Claudine Yoseph of Oklahoma City, Barbara Green of Altus, and Debora Lamberth of Oklahoma City; two special nephews, Earl Gould of Oklahoma City, and Carl Gould of Oklahoma City; a very special friend, LaVerne Scoggins of Altus; along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, great-nieces and -nephews, great-great-nieces and -nephews other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.
The family will greet friends from 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
