Lanier-Andler Funeral Home 8261 Highway 90 East Sneads, Florida 32460 850-593-9900 John Joel Kirkland Mr. John Joel Kirkland, age 70, a native of Early County, Georgia, passed away at his home in Sneads, Florida, Monday, July 8, 2013. Joel was an avid FSU Fan. He loved fishing, camping and spending time with his family. He was especially devoted to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was retired as Bridge Superintendent for a Bridge Construction Company. Joel was of the Baptist Faith and had lived in this area for the past fifty years. Joel loved visiting local businesses in Sneads and sharing his love for life. His "one of a kind" personality will continue to live on in every one's heart. Joel is survived by his wife of 49 years, Rita Ann Kirkland of Sneads, Florida; his daughter, Katherine Leigh and her husband Donnie of Sneads, Florida; two sons, Terry Scott Kirkland and his wife Tammy and John Kerry "Tater" Kirkland and his wife Julia, all of Sneads, Florida; two sisters, Erline Champion and Aline Champion, both of Augusta, Georgia; eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, John Joel Kirkland, Jr. Visitation with the family will take place Thursday, July 11, 2013, 10:00 AM CDT, at Lanier-Andler Funeral Home Chapel in Sneads, Florida, followed by the Funeral Services at 11:00 AM CDT, with Rev. Bill Mayo officiating. Committal and Interment Services will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery.

Rita and family. I was very sorry to here of Joel's passing. I am also glad that I was able to come to see yall and get to talk to him. Also glad that ever so often he and Odell would stop by to see me.

Joel was a good and funny man. He will be greatly missed. Will always remember him coming into the store and saving me from a snake. LOL. Fred and I both thought the world of him. My thoughts and prayers are with the family in their time of loss.
