Joyce Leibelt HICKORY Joyce Hollar Leibelt, 78, of Hickory, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Born April 3, 1935, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Lula Kaylor Hollar and Obed Craig Hollar. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Richard Hollar; two sisters, Mary Hollar Sipe and Eunice Hollar Miller; a nephew, Jim Sipe; and a niece, Lori Hollar Joyner. A member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church Mo. Synod, she had worked for Dr. John Davis as a medical assistant for 35 years. After her retirement she was a real estate agent with Century 21 and Executive Realty. Joyce loved animals, especially cats, and she was an avid NASCAR fan. She also enjoyed cooking, watching tennis and collegiate basketball games on TV. Joyce was a born caregiver throughout her life and enjoyed every minute of it. She was a very caring and compassionate woman who maintained a very strong faith. She is survived by a sister, Gladys Hollar Mullen, of Hickory; two brothers, Melvin Hollar, of Bel Air, Md. and Kenneth Hollar and wife, Marlyn, of Hickory; and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. today (Tuesday, April 30), at St. Stephens Lutheran Church, Mo. Synod, with Pastors David Guelzow and David Ziehr officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 4 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Joyce's nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family requests that memorials may be made to St. Stephens Lutheran Church, Mo. Synod, 2304 Springs Rd., Hickory, NC 28601.
