Myrtle Jordan Obituary

Myrtle Williams Jordan
Tyler - Myrtle Williams Jordan of Tyler, Texas passed away on February 8, 2021. She was born in Baileyboro, Texas on March 21, 1932 to Charlie and Pearl Williams. She started school in Goodnight, Texas where her father worked on the Charles Goodnight family ranch. A couple of years later the family moved to a dairy farm on Soncy Road west of Amarillo, and she attended Soncy School, a one room school house. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1950. She met her husband Marvin Jordan at the movie theater where she worked during High School. They were married on July 29, 1950, and were together for 65 years. Marvin passed away in 2015. Her career as a legal secretary spanned 6 decades –first with the Lumpkin Law Firm then with Barras and Bunkley Law Firm, in Amarillo. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Amarillo for many decades. After she and Marvin retired, they moved to Lake Tyler to be near their oldest daughter, and both passed away there.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brother Charles Williams who passed away last December. She is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Sandra Jordan Lane and Barry, and Lisa Jordan Knight and Steve, her grandchildren Brandon Lane (wife Traci), Aaron Lane, Adam Knight and Emma Knight, and her great-grandchildren Braxton Lane, Madisson Lane, Jordan Lane, Shelbie Lane and her sister, Melba Williams Fincher and many nieces and nephews.
She was a wonderful Christian woman loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be at a later date.

Myrtle and her husband were great people. I just happened across the obituary, and am so sorry for her family's loss. My brother Bob use to go skiing with Marvin, and mom kept Sandy while Myrtle worked.. Then years later we usually sat a pew apart at church. She was my mentor when I was a young legal secretary, someone I could call for advice. The world was a better place for having a Myrtle and Marvin in it.
