ROBERTS, Ruth "Evelyn" 87, was gently lifted by angels into the loving arms of Jesus Christ and her late husband Ellis Roberts on March 15, 2013. Evelyn was born on August 5, 1925 and was a lovely and charming southern belle from Nashville Tennessee, but always claimed her roots were in Tampa. She was predeceased by her parents, Sam and Ruth Logan; brother, Frank Logan; and husband, Ellis Roberts. Her family came to Tampa when Evelyn was a young girl where she grew up in old Seminole Heights and attended Broward Elementary, Memorial Junior High and graduated from Hillsborough High in 1943. She married Ellis just before he shipped out to join U.S. Army forces in the South Pacific. Evelyn was a steadfast and proud military wife while Ellis served during WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Evelyn and Ellis were married for 61 years until his death in 2005. Evelyn is survived by her two sons, Sam Roberts and wife Sissy, Dewey Roberts and wife Mary Alice. As proud as she was of her sons, she was equally proud to be the grandmother to six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Incarnation Catholic Church for 40 years where she was a Eucharistic minister and served on the welcoming board and numerous church functions. Her passion was knitting prayer shawls for congregation members. Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Wednesday, March 20 from 6-8:00 p.m. at the Blount & Curry West Chapel, 6802 Silvermill Dr. Tampa. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 21, 2013, 10:00 a.m. at Incarnation Catholic Church, corner of Hillsborough Ave. & Webb Rd. Entombment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Jon Dipietro and his staff for such wonderful care and advice during Evelyn's life. The LifePath Hospice "pink team" was also greatly appreciated for their love, support and care in Evelyn's final weeks. Flowers are accepted or contributions to LifePath Hospice of Tampa, 3010 W. Azeele St., Tampa, FL 33609. Please view and sign our online guestbook at www.blountcurrywest.com
