Alfred, Thanks for being such a good role model for Brooke. I think you would be proud. She played volleyball in college and is now coaching. I credit you for lighting that fire and stoking it with encouragement. I cannot believe youve been gone 6 years now. I miss our conversations, particularly during football season. Rest easy my friend

I just realized it has been almost a year since Al's passing and wanted to let Lisa and the boys know that I have thought of them often this past year and hope they are doing okay. Al was an amazing man who brought so much to so many, probably not even realizing the positive affect he had! He is still greatly missed, but one day we will see him again! I am sure there are baseball and basketball in Heaven!

I played in the Ultimate Frisbee games with Al for about 11 years. One learns about a person's character when playing competitive sports. Al was always a gentleman and a good sport both on and off the field. He was lots of fun to be around. He was the most incredible athlete I've ever known, but it is for his good character that Al has so much standing with me. I never saw Al get mad in a mean way; he just played harder. And when Al played hard he was so good that the other 10 players on the other team didn't have a chance. If they made any points at all, it was by accident. It was a privilege to know Al and I am deeply sorry that he is gone.

Al was the whole package, he was a true and loyal family man, great mentor, excellent in all sports, and best of all.. A true friend. I'm so blessed to have known him for the 16 years that I have been at Northrop. Al and I played lots of ball together and what a sight.. He was an amazing athelete,and always an upbeat to the team.. We miss him dearly, but know that he's done his deed and living though all of us that he touched. Thought and prayers to the Walker family. We are here for you.

On this side of heaven, we will not be able to understand why tragic events happen to wonderful people. My prayer is that this loss of someone who had such a positive impact on so many people will cause those of us who are still living to re-examine our lives and relationships. That we will live such that when we are no longer here in body that some of these same comments can be made about us. That we will live a life from which love and encouragement flows. I believe that Alfred could live such a life because he knew the God who created him. Lisa, Aaron, and Christian have lost a wonderful person. What a blessing to have known and lived life with such a man!

Attended Al's wake and then saw an aquaintance just after who had posted about Al. Asked him how he knew Al, and he told me that he did some work for him, spoke to him for a total of 3 hrs, and in that time, knew without any doubt that Al was/is a special man. As do so many, I thought so too. Al never missed the opportunity to ask me how my boys were doing, and to praise them if he could. Praise from Al about my boys really meant something. He was one of those special people that made life better for so many, and though his legacy will remain,and his memory carried on, he will truly be missed.

Love your neighbor as yourself. That was our blessing as neighbors. We never stopped just waved, said a passing Nice Day. Laughed with them as they rode by on their bikes, someone wasn't keeping up.
Still we knew, we saw we understood and appreciated such Love and devotion. This was a loving family a JOY to behold. We are so saddened by your loss. Our loss.
Please accept our deep sympathy,

FCHS 2010 Reunion
To the family of Alfred, sending love from his high school alma mater and below is our school song, he was a top athlete and loved by all. his dedication to family and children was also evidenced when we had our first class reunion for our class in 33 years and he couldn't make it because his son had a game. We all joked about it because all of our kids were adults. i say this because he was selfless, sacrificed being with his classmates and chose his family and kids he was coaching. We missed him then, , and will forever miss him. Our class song says it all. Hail, oh hail to dear Fort Campbell
School of faith and pride;
Loyal friends of thee forever
Always by your side.

Proudly standing past and future
Looking towards the sky;
We'll remember you forever

Dear LIsa, Aaron, Christian, Wayne and extended family,
In this crazy world we live in there are very few things that remain constant, but we could always count on Coach Al to be upbeat and positive. He was my son's coach for only one season, but he made a huge impact on him! Luke always says that Coach Al was the best coach he ever had. There are so few people that personify everything "good". Al Walker was one of these people and I respected him so much! Some people just have HUGE personalities and touch so many lives. It is still hard to believe the giant has fallen.... Our entire family will miss him, his smile and encouraging ways.

To Al's family,

Sorry for your loss and it is hard for me to accept the loss as a friend, mentee, and a coworker. I have known him for a while but I really got to work and know him in the last couple of years. I have seen him handle tough situations with a smile and he was always the voice for others who were not represented. He would always encourage others and yes, sometimes through trash talk during a game of ultimate frisbee or basketball. He has mentored me in several occasions when he had no stake in the situation and that is the type of man he was...always helpful, calculated, passionate with a team vision. Please accept my sincerest condolences and we are here for u guys.

To Lisa, the boys and Al's extended family, we are all so saddened with your loss. Al was truly loved by so many and he will be missed by all.

I was privileged and honored for having known Al. Al was a friend, coworker, softball teammate, and fellow coach, and as everyone can attest, Al was great at them all, but one of the things that I most admired about Al was his commitment to being a Great Family Man. As the eternal coach, Al would frequently share notes from all his playbooks, including one of his most cherished books of all “The Dad Playbook”. Both Aaron and Christian please know that your Dad talked often of you, and he was so very proud of both of his boys. Have comfort in knowing that the lessons that your Dad has already imparted upon you provides a solid foundation for all aspects of your life. As you grow older you will be faced with many challenges, and when faced with them just ask yourself; “What would Dad do?” If you follow your father's playbooks, you will surely be blessed with a rewarding and fulfilling life.

You have my sincerest condolences, may God bless your whole family.

A true man is defined as an honorable,loving and faithful husband. A hard-working man who protects and provides for his family. A dedicated father, a man of character and integrity. A man who unselfishly devoted his time to other children, to mold them into a better athlete. Al Walker was all of these things and more, and will be greatly missed by everyone who loved him. Al,
It is difficult for me to write all the things that Laura and I admired about you even though you have only been in Heaven a week. The one thing that stands out for us is that you made our son Justin feel like you were always there to support and encourage him, regardless of how his day went on the ball field. We are truly grateful to have been blessed with your friendship and words of wisdom over the years. Thank you for spending the time you did with us. I wish there was more time, but apparently God needed a baseball coach in Heaven more. We all miss you greatly.

Thank you Coach Al

It is hard to put to words, the depth and breadth of the impact one man has on others; especially a man like Al. Al, Lisa, Aaron and Christian were great neighbors. Al and I would talk college sports as the kids played. His love of sports was genuine and he was my daughter's athletic mentor early on. I can only find comfort in John 14: 1-4 "Let not your hearts be troubled; believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And when I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also."

It was always such a pleasure seeing Al - mostly at the baseball field or the basketball court. He was a special person, so warm and funny. He was an amazing coach and mentor - whether he was our coach or just came by to watch our game. He always took an interest in the boys and how they could get better. He will be missed and always remembered.

Wow I am really in shock by Mr. Al passing. Easily one of the greatest men I knew in my life. He was always asking me how my sports were and whenever I told him he would always tell me he believed I could be great. This is the man that taught me early on what it means to be an athlete and what sportsmanship really is. When I was on the city basketball team he made a special point to watch me play and was there for my very first basket. Rest in paradise Mr. Al, the rest of my games this volleyball season will be played for you, one of my earliest athletic mentors. You will be missed,

Al was so great to work with. For me, his biggest encouragement was on the Frisbee field. My athletic abilities wane, but he got me in the game and made me feel a part of the team. I think it was just who he is. And God must have needed that in Heaven with Him. My heart grieves for his family. My tears are with yours.

Al was one of the nicest people that I have had the privilege of working with over the years. Not a day went by that he did not say Hello to someone in the hallways at work. He will truly be missed. He was a very special person.

Lisa and the extended Walker family, Al was a wonderful person and colleague. Over the years I always enjoyed working and conversing with Al on many occasions. He was very passionate about his work and life in general. He left his mark on so many things here at work, but more importantly, he left his mark with so many of us that knew him personally. We will deeply miss him but his spirit and memory will live on forever. God bless and our deepest, heartfelt sympathies to you all.
