Norman Norwood Obituary

Norman Robert "Bob" Norwood went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 in Katy, Texas. Bob was born in Fayetteville, Arkansas, February 28, 1942, to Buford Norman Norwood and Maureen Williams Norwood. The family moved to Broken Bow, Oklahoma for a couple of years before moving to Ada, Oklahoma where he attended elementary and Jr. High. They made a final move to Houston, Texas when Bob was in ninth grade. He attended Bellaire High school where he met his high school sweetheart, Andrea Ross, and graduated in 1960. After Andrea graduated in 1961, they were married on August 25, 1962, and enjoyed 33 years together until her passing in October 1995.

His dad started a homebuilding company, Monarch Homes, in the late 1950's, where Bob went to work as a teenager doing construction clean-up. He continued moving up in the company, became President at age 29, and later Chairman of the Board before the company sold in 1980.

Bob and Andrea moved their family to Katy in 1971 to enjoy a small town life. They developed wonderful memories and friends through their involvement in many church and community activities.

An avid outdoorsman, Bob hunted in Texas, Alaska, Canada, and all over the country. He also enjoyed fishing, raising cattle, riding horses, snow skiing, and dancing, but his true enjoyment was spending time with Andrea and his girls—especially at Christmas!

Bob's love for the Lord gave him a desire to see others come to know Jesus and he demonstrated that through his faith, his time, and his resources. He never met a stranger and always had a story to tell.

After Andrea passed away in 1995 Bob met Karen McWaters in 1998 and they were married January 8, 1999. Karen and Bob enjoyed working together in real estate, and between family, church, business, and trips, their life has certainly been full. Bob was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and his battle has been fought well. Even to the last days of his life, his smile never left him.

Bob is survived by his wife, Karen; daughters Lauri Wiederhold, Juli Lester, and Kristi Caple; sons-n-law Kevin Wiederhold, Derek Lester, and Brent Caple; grandchildren Lindsi Darnell and husband Rob, Kelsi Wiederhold, Blake Lester and wife Soyoung, Brooke Lester and great grandson Ryder, Bailee Lester, and Clayton Caple; brother Terry Norwood and wife Vicky along with their family. Also, Karen's sons Brent McWaters and wife Tracy, Adam McWaters and wife Tiffany and their families.

Services will be held at Schmidt Funeral Home at 1344 W Grand Parkway South, Katy, Texas 77494. Visitation will be Friday, June 8, 2018 from 5-8 PM. Funeral service will be Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 10:30 AM.

Your neighbor..

June 19, 2018

I am very sorry for your loss, loosing a loved one is truly a heartbreaking experience, but its uplifting to know that God promises us in Isaiah 65:17 a near future in which not only wont we feel the pain of loosing a loved one anymore but we wont even remember how it felt. Our pain will be erased and we will be happy once again..

Lauri, Juli and Kristi, my thoughts and prayers go out to you and your families. Without a doubt your Mom and Dad had the largest impact in my life in showing me what it means to live as Christ. You ladies are a true testament and continuing legacy of what Bob leaves behind.

AND KAREN...you had big shoes to fill and you did it so graciously and have sacrificed so much for Bob these last few years. You are a true woman of God in showing how we are to live in service. I will see you all tomorrow.
Lots of love Kathy Grant
