On Thursday, to honor Alex, his loving wife, LaVerne, and their children and spouses and their children:
-Todd & Linda, Alexandra, Sophie;
-Sharon & Eric, Kellen; and
-Sandra & Philip, Max and Morgan,
-and Father Michael Sakran
all combined their individual gifts/talents to create an amazing, loving service and Mercy Meal for a day that overwhelmed me and inspired me to finally go outside my old school' comfort zone and contribute to this memory page.

- Alex was nearly 21 years old when I, his baby sister, was born. Our father passed away about a year after, but I never missed a Father Daughter event. Alex filled in for my dad and took me to the event(s) even though he had his own family.

- He made everyone smile at family holiday gatherings,even if it was playing spoons around the elongated dining room table or trying to carve a paper turkey decoration for Thanksgiving Dinner.

- He walked me down the aisle on my wedding day.

- He made our children laugh at even the most mundane thingslike whether regular cream of wheat or instant cream of wheat was better, turning it into a long standing joke with them.

- He was proof to our son that a guy doesn't have to be 6 feet tall to play high school basketball, even in Indiana. He taught our son how to shoot with his left hand because it confuses the other team! He was right, and our son was a starter' on the high school team!

Our family already misses his expressive, huge brown smiling eyes and joking.

To LaVerne, their children and grandchildren: May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.
