DONALD JAMES MAHONEY, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021. Born in Louisville, Ky., he was a son of the late John Anthony Mahoney and Cecilia Roth Mahoney. He was a graduate of Bishop Luers High School and St. Francis College, both in Fort Wayne, Ind.. He is a veteran of the Vietnam War. He served 24 years in the U.S. Army, with his last assignment being at Fort Jackson, S.C. After his retirement, he stayed in Columbia, S.C., and worked various jobs. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was devoted to his Catholic faith. Surviving are his son, Joseph Matthew (Anne) Mahoney of Germantown, Tenn.; daughter, Mary (Stephen) Mahoney Ruisi of Andover, Mass.; five grandchildren, Nathan Trent Mahoney, Jonah Lawrence Ruisi, Keira Grace Mahoney, Olivia Christine Ruisi, and Bennett Christopher Ruisi; sisters, Monica (Terrance) Hughes of Redondo Beach, Calif. and Mary Christensen of Amelia Island, Fla.; brother, Dennis M. Mahoney of Fort Way, Ind.; numerous nieces and nephews; and wife, Arlene Kain Criswell Mahoney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Christine Marie Alt Mahoney; his son, Andrew John Mahoney; and brother, John Bernard Mahoney. A Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park Serenity Gardens with military honors. The Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22, 2021, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with visitation following until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Andrew J.
