JOHN A."BENJI" PETERSON, 19, departed this life on Friday, March 26, 2021. He was born on Sept. 6, 2001. Surviving are his parents, Herman and Liz Peterson; grandmother, Martha Peterson; along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Friday, April 9, 2021, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1101 S. Lafayette, Fort Wayne (IN 46802), with visitation starting at 10 a.m. Private burial. I enjoyed having Benji being apart of my life. He always knew how to cheer me up and make me laugh. He had such a good heart and kind soul, especially when he would be playing basketball on the court.

I was heartbroken to hear about John’s passing. He was always so kind to me - a substitute teacher at Luers. He even stopped his car one day in the Foster park area to say hello when he saw me walking my dogs. And I loved that he went to the job fair and got a good job at the zoo. I was so proud of him for all of his accomplishments. What a great kid! My prayers are with you.

I met John as a freshman at Bishop Luers High School where I worked as a school counselor. I am heartbroken by his passing. My condolences to Mr. & Mrs. Peterson and their family. I know that John was adored by his family and friends. He will never be forgotten.

I remember when John was around 4 and I ran in to John and his dad. Herman said this is John. John said my name is Alex. He always had a play name. I can not believe he is gone. I worked with Herman and Liz at Magnavox . A wonderful family. It just isn't fair GOD bless you
