Pastor Kraus and Joan's time at St. John Lutheran in Elwood, IN was a blessing that many of us remember with thankfulness. He came as an interim at a time when we were probably at our lowest ebb. I especially remember Christmas Eve services. There are so many stories I know from members who still hold him dear in their hearts for something special he did for them. Steve and I also enjoyed social times and outings. And there was the ice cream shop in Ft. Wayne! Joan, we thank God for the few years we had with Pastor and you. We pray for you and your family at this time of loss, and know that all is well with Pastor.

He was a pastor's pastor!!!! Kind and gentle, compromising, yet firm in the important areas of ministry. He helped and guided me in Auburn, IN. To those who knew him, you know this statement to be true. God created a wonderful human being in Richard Kraus!

I loved this man of God. He served as an interim pastor at St Mark’s in Auburn but he was much more than that. He was a mentor to many pastors and an encourager to everyone he meant. His smiles and hugs were special. ❤
