I'm reminded of what a gem Scott was, and is, moreso in the Presence of our Lord. One memory particularly stands out of so many... most people that know me well now, know me as one who loves to read; it is due to Scott. Decades ago he handed me a book, My Antonia ,and told me I needed to read.I haven't stopped, and it thankfully, greatly expanded my life. I'm so blessed to have seen how our nieces represented their Dad at the funeral, and I pray they always keep in mind what their Dad would want for them. The Lord bless you Debbie with continued strength, you are a true saint.

Memories of my dear Uncle Scott: Growing up, he was more than an uncle. He was more or less my dad's best friend and always welcomed us in their home. I always appreciated his laugh and that he still tried to be in our lives after he and dear Aunt Cheryl divorced. I remember one time visiting his alma mater, Wabash U, w/him, my sister Rachel and perhaps Vickie. It was inspiring to see someone who went to college, found a job he was proud of, and yet still nurtured his artistic side through the ups and downs of life--be it through his photography, poetry or love of lesser-known music. I am proud of the steps he took to try to do the right thing--particularly by his daughters, make the best of his path, and surrender the rest to God. I am very sorry to have missed the funeral today, but am praying for your fond memories and God's peace to comfort you as you process your loss--our loss. Much love & prayers

I just found out about Scott's passing. I wish I could have attended the service. It was a privilege to have roomed with Scott at TKE. He was one of the nicest people that I have known. I am deeply sorry for your loss.

Debbie, Sorry for your loss. Going through it once is hard enough but twice. You have God on your side. Stay strong and think about all the good times.

Scott, I remember your poems for our conferences and many visits to my office. You never complained and always had laughter. Rest in peace.

I've thought about all of the memories with my uncle Scott over the last couple of days. Sometimes you do not realize how special moments are until someone passes. Like Uncle Scott driving my cousins and sisters home in the back of his truck from the Carmel Community Pool in the summers growing up; my sisters and cousins with our hands in the air and he with a smile in the front seat. Or him caving every time my sisters and cousins clinging to each other, refusing to go home after a day at their house, insisting on a sleepover. He had the biggest heart. Uncle Scott was a doting father, and uncle, and friend. Rest in peace dear Uncle.
