Nancy Alexander Obituary

Nancy John Rudy Alexander, of Mt. Airy passed from this life on November 4, 2017.

Born to the late Edgar C. and Sarah Ann Williams Rudy on September 20, 1932 in Frederick, Maryland. She lived her childhood life in Mount Airy.

Nancy was married to the late Marvin G. Alexander on November 4, 1950 in Richmond, Indiana. They were married 58 years. They moved to Mount Airy in March of 1952 where, through the years, they built a home and raised a family of four boys, Douglas C. Alexander and his wife Bonnie, Michael G. Alexander and his wife Rosemary, Robert M. Alexander and his wife Rita, and David S. Alexander and his wife Betty. Nancy and Marvin moved to Florida in 1993 to enjoy the retirement life where they made many friends, but returned to the area in 2007 when health issues arose.

Nancy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and most of all a friend. She was the proud mother of 4, grandmother of 9, and great grandmother of 16. Nancy always had a smile and friendly greeting whenever she saw you. In recent years she loved to join her Mount Airy friends for coffee and conversation at Arby's on Mondays. During her life, Nancy worked as a homemaker, school cafeteria worker, school guidance secretary, and a dental receptionist.

Nancy had great recollections of growing up in Mount Airy, and knew many of the people, businesses, and activities of the time period in town. As a child she enjoyed the Christmas shopping trips to Baltimore by train from the Mount Airy station.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 p.m.on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, 8 East Ridgeville in Mt. Airy, MD.

A celebration of Nancy's life journey will follow at 10:00 am on Friday, November 10, 2017. Rev. Keith Corrick will officiate.

Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Mount Airy, MD.

Memorial donations may be made to Mt. Airy Volunteer Fire Company, 702 N. Main Street, Mt. Airy, MD. 21771 or Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America, 355 Lexington Avenue, 15th Floor, New York, New York 10017

Miss Nancy will be greatly missed by all at Spring Ridge Senior Apartments, especially my 20 month old granddaughter who had a special connection with Nancy. We took Lailani to see Nancy back in August when she was in Lorien. It was a special moment. We also had a special connection in being Bulldog lovers. Nancy was loved & will be missed. Our sympathies to the whole family.
