Gary, you and I became good friends, starting with a chance meeting at a convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland. You were vicar of St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Frederick, while I was interim rector of St. James Episcopal Church in Westernport.

Upon my move to Alexandria, Virginia, in 1973, we continued our friendship, enjoying a shared love of symphonic music. I remember your return from Australia where you had gone for further study in sign language. We both had a love of the outdoors, you on a bike and me in hiking boots.

Gary, you chose a good transition day, the Feast of All Saints. May you join with all the saints in heaven and, one fine day, perhaps we shall meet again.

May you Rest In Peace and Rise in Glory, good and loving friend.
