I had the pleasure of meeting John, when he visited the home he was raised in. We chatted and he shared memories of the home with me. He toured The Arch and was very happy the home, was now a venue.
He told me there was money buried in the back yard. A whole quarter in a jar!! He just laughed.
He told me he never danced. So he and I took the time to dance to a song in the pavilion.
Our prayers for his family and friends.

Years ago I set out to build a two story garage. To set the walls in place and ridge beam, I built my own crude crane out of 2 x 8 and rebar to support the pulley. Knowing John to be an engineer, I asked if he though the rebar was sufficiently strong enough to handle the weight. John ruminated (his favorite expression) for a bit and rendered his verdict: yes it should be adequate. The following day John approached me, holding two sheets of legal paper upon which I could observe multiple figures. John had put his engineering skills to work and had calculated that my crane would easily be up to the task. Such were the workings of this remarkable man.

Dear Jack and family,
Please accept our condolences on the loss of your dad. He had a very fulfilling life and I am sure all of you are very proud of his accomplishments and for being such a good father.
Sincerely,
Treva Siedling and Ted Manakas
