Michael Dominick Ramundo, age 50, of Frederick, MD passed away from this life on Tuesday, January 1st, 2019 at his residence. He was the loving husband and devoted father to his family, wife Linda and son Bryan. Born on May 18, 1968, in Schenectady, NY, he was the son of the late Diane (Walker) Thwaits and Vito Richard Ramundo.
In addition to his wife, son and father he is survived by his step-father William Thwaits: brothers in law: Robin (Lauren), David (Tammy), and Keith (Dorri) Bryan and mother-in-law, Rita Bryan. Mike is also survived by many aunts and uncles including Linda (Linny) and Nick Ramundo, who provided special care in his last months along with his step-father William (Bill). In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his sister, Gina Pedone and his father-in-law, Samuel Bryan.
Mike attended Colonie Central High School in Albany, New York and then went on to attend Hudson Valley Community College and SUNY Brockport also in New York. He moved permanently to Maryland in 1988 and began a career in Finance in the telecommunication industry working for GTE. He later transitioned into the mortgage industry where he spent the remainder of his career as a Mortgage Professional - Senior Loan Officer. He truly enjoyed this work and found it to be very rewarding. He worked for several banks during his career including Prime Lending, 1st Mariner and Access National Banks.
Mike was an incredible person. A wonderful husband and father; truly a devoted family man. He was a loyal and kind friend and was loved by many. One of Mike's passions was his love of sports. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed playing baseball, softball and basketball in various men's leagues. He continued to play competitively for many years up until his disease physically prevented him from doing so. Mike loved life and battled against ALS like the true fighter that he was. He will be forever missed.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 18 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD, 21702. A Memorial Mass will be offered on Saturday, January 19 at 11:00am at St. Joseph-on-Carrollton Manor Catholic Church, 5843 Manor Woods Road, Frederick, MD, 21703. Father Lawrence Frazier will officiate.
The family has expressed their wish that gestures of sympathy in lieu of flowers be made by charitable donations to the "Robert Packard Center for ALS Research" - 550 N. Broadway, Suite 722, Baltimore, MD 21205 with a note indicating the donation is in memory of Michael Ramundo.

Mike was a friend and classmate from CCHS Class of
86. My prayers are with his family and friends. He was a true fighter who will be missed and always remembered.
