It was a privilege to know Norm. A selfless, bright light of the Coast Guard. Even in his last days, he was still sending messages of Coast Guard activities to the people on his NormNet. As the Co-chair of the Capital Area Coast Guard Retiree council, I recognize Norm for his outstanding contributions to our council with his wisdom, counsel, his presence at our meetings, virtual and physical and his deep understanding of CG missions and lore. He is missed and will be missed. He was unique among us. Rest peacefully, our friend.

Pericles best describes this special friend of the United States Coast Guard, "What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others."

Norm was really one of the "good guys"... one who has had a lasting effect on so many. We're all better for having known him.

Norm was a very special friend who was loved by all and will certainly be missed. He impressed everyone with his unrelenting Change of Command travels (with camera in hand!) as he always made an extraordinary effort to get to as many as possible. I never saw him smile as much as when we hosted him at CGA for a couple days and he was able to visit with everyone on campus and as many cadets as he could. He was thrilled to be with so many "coasties"! Our deepest condolences to all of his family.
