Dorris Lorraine Hannawald of Silver Spring, MD passed away October 26, 2017 at the age of 97.She was born in Filley, Missouri on September 10, 1920. She was the only child of Roy E. and Frankie L. (White) McWilliams.
She married Emmett B. Hannawald on August 2, 1942 in Topeka, Kansas.They moved to Maryland in 1948. She was school secretary at Ager Road Elementary School in Hyattsville for 30 years. She loved to sew and made most of her own clothes. She also loved to read. For many years she and Emmett square danced and round danced with several clubs in the area. She is survived by her three children James (Terry) Hannawald of Denton, MD, Karen (Floyd) Van Aacken-Clark of Silver Spring, MD, Janice Davis of Millsboro, DE. Eight grandchildren Wm. Duane (JoAnn) Davis, Daniel (Patricia) Davis, Jason (Elizabeth) Davis, Matthew (Shannon) Hannawald, Patience (Tim) Walz, Jered (Margie) Hannawald, Marna (John) Clark and Heather Graner, and eleven great grandchildren DJ, Joey, Diana, Ryan, Raquel, Austin, Ben, Noah, Josie, Brennan, and Clayton. A memorial service will be Friday November 3, 2017 at 1:00pm at Ashton United Methodist Church, 17314 New Hampshire Ave., Ashton, MD 20861. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the church or to Casey House, 6001 Muncaster Mill Road, Rockville, MD 20855.
