To the Balloch Family,

On behalf of the Charleston Base SUBVETS and Swamp Fox Chapter SUBVETS WWII, I offer you our sincere condolences on Thomas' passing. We grieve with you on the loss of your loved one and our shipmate. The SUBVETS will have your family in our thoughts and prayers. There is no expiration date on the back of our dolphins and Thomas, who earned his 'fish' when he qualified on USS CATFISH SS-339, will always be remembered as a Brother of the Phin and a great Patriot.

To the Balloch Family,

When my own father passed away in 2010, Tom was there for me, and in so many ways became a surrogate father to me. On 22FEB2011, I was having lunch with Tom when I suffered a stroke. Tom saved my life that day, as he recognized what was happening immediately and called 911. Over the years, I have appreciated what a truly great friend he's been. I will miss him terribly, and be forever grateful to him for saving my life that day.
