I as so sorry to hear of the passing of my friend whom I met while booking his travel over the years. RIP my friend. You were a true angel on earth and now in angel in Heaven.

Dear Kent and Yvonne,
Fred and I were friends. I work at Hobby Lobby and he would come to to visit me. I would always love to see him and had such fun with him. He spoke so highly you the two of you. The last three times I saw Fred was at his home after his car accident. He hadn't been in for awhile and I became worried about him. After work I drove to his house and was delighted to see him come to the door. We visited for an hour and I told him about our recent vacation to Italy. The next time I saw him he visited me at Hobby Lobby and came by taxi. It was the first time I saw him use a walker. He was always so spry and snappy. It broke my heart. Through tears in his eyes he kept telling me he needed a car. He couldn't keep stranded in his house. He needed to be able to get out and go to the stores to see his friends. I thought not having a car was killing him. The next time I saw him was a week later when I picked him up at his home and took him to look at some used cars. There was a perfect silver Taurus for $2300! But he had his eye on a BLACK Chevy for $13K. He wanted a black car and he liked that Chevy. We took the dealership info and I drove him back home. All the way he talked about that black Chevy and promised he would not drive it outside Holland! He kept thanking me for taking him to look at cars! Even tho I didn't think he would ever buy another car, it made him so happy that I would take him to look. That was the last time I saw him. When I heard he had passed away I was so happy I could make one of his last days a happy one. I loved Fred. He was my friend and I will miss him.

Fred was such a fine gentleman. I really appreciated his kindness and patience with me in our golf league back in the nineties. My sympathy goes out to his family and friends.

Dear Mr & Mrs Kent Shafer, We lost a very special man. To me, Fred was the last living REAL friend I had. We met at Micromatic Hone/Excello after he was transferred from Michigan Tool. I worked with him for years and he worked for me for years. I was the one who transferred him to Indiana. Later on, he & Marge became close personal friends with Ruth & I. I was fortunate that he invited me into his group of fishing buddies and we often fished together at Ogoki. Ruth & I spent many evenings battling each other over a Euchre table. Fred was a near, dear & loyal friend who had many, many friends and not one enemy in the world. The world has lost a wonderful man. We share our prayers & grief with you.
