When we built our new house , the Riehls had not yet moved in next door. 51 years later Norma still lived in the same house in our same neighborhood, watching us all grow up side by side with her own children. Our families have been united through friendship and marriage over all these years, and Norma outlived many of her neighbors, keeping a watch over the many people who came and went. The world is a better place because of her generosity, her friendship, and her unfaltering love for her family. I have always admired her strength, her integrity and the true caring she had for the people in her life. I cannot remember a time when we'd meet at some family gathering and she'd ask about my husband and children with true caring in her voice. Rest in peace Norma, you are loved and you will truly be missed!

Back in the day ... growing up next door to the Riehl's .... Mrs. Riehl was my second mom. When Mike or Jimmy used a "bad word" and got a whooping or had their mouths washed out with soap by Norma ... I got mine as well ... just in case I had any ideas! When it was time for boating on the "Chrissy Gal III" I was always included. When it was time to play ... hockey, football, baseball ... or "paper boats and cars" ... i was always included. When it was time to walk "Slugger" ... I was always included. When it came time for backyard sleepovers or birthday parties ... I was always included. For those of us lucky enough to grow up on Colony ... Mrs. Riehl will always be remembered for her zest for life and her love of people; providing all of us "Colony Critters" with a lifetime of memories. To Mike, Jimmy, Chrissy and Barb my thoughts and prayers are with you and your families during this hard time. Your mom was a great lady and will be fondly missed. Peace.

It was 50 years ago I coincidentally met the Riehl family, when their household was on my (then) daily Free Press paper route! I also then later roomed with both Jim Jr. and Mike in college at "Car Dealer Training School" at Northwood University!

Looking back over all these years (and speaking as one of 5 kids growing up in a car dealer family as well) I can truly appreciate what both Mrs. Riehl and my own mother must have had to painfully endure presiding over sometime chaotic circumstances to say the least!!! I distinctly remember Mrs. Riehl not only as a lady of strong principal but also as a very likable one as well who I indeed respected.

My sincerest sympathies to the Riehl family for the loss of such a great matriarch! I will surely keep her in my prayers.
