I attended Chrysler Temporary School (as it was called then) as a kindergartener. My first school year and the school's first year. I'm grateful that she gave my education a friendly, solid start. She was a true teacher!

I too was one of Miss Belew's students at Detroit's Chrysler Elementary School. I didn't realize she was its founder. I started Chrysler in the 4th grade and remember our classes in the Mies Van der Rohe townhouses where we met until the school building was completed. Miss Belew created a unique learning environment for us that set a firm foundation for the rest of my education.

I know she never had kids of her own, but I like to think I was one of Miss Belew's children from another mother. Sending sympathies and hugs to her family.

RIP dear teacher.

I attended Chrysler from Kindergarten through sixth grade, 1960-67. Ms Belew was one of my favorite teachers. I remember classes in the basement of one of the townhouses. My older sister and younger brother also went to Chrysler. RIP, Miss Belew. Condolences to her family

Miss Belew was my first grade teacher and friend. She let me walk and take care of her cats Ting and Tai. Later when I grew up I adopted two Siamese and named them the same names. She taught me how to read and we went to the same church, Central Methodist, when she lived in Detroit. When I graduated college she came to California she brought me a glass Apple. She said it was an Apple from the teacher lol. I loved Miss Belew Dearly!
