My condolences to the entire Bordo Family. It was such an honor to be his student during my time at Troy High School.

Mr. Bordo instilled a wonderful appreciation for music in me, and also taught me so many important life lessons. I still carry these important life lessons with me today as an adult. I will never forget the "Bordoisms" such as "on time is late", "now we are cooking with gas".

Mr. Bordo's legacy is immeasurable. He had a profound influence on each and every person who had the privilege of being his student. He showed how important it is to put hard work, focus and determination in each and everything that you do. He was a man with great passion, and although he could be strict at times he always fair and respectful to his students. We strove to do our best for him because he always gave us his best.....this led to us receiving many distinctions and awards during the years that he was our conductor. Many of us happily and enthusiastically followed him to OCC to be part of his band there.

I would always enjoy running into Mr. and Mrs. Bordo at the grocery store and am happy he lived a long and healthy life. I wish all of Mr. Bordo's family strength during this difficult time.

My brother, Al Parkes, now lives in England so he wouldn't have seen Mr. Bordo's obituary. Knowing that he thought highly of Mr. Bordo when he (Al) was in band at Ann Arbor High, I emailed him. This is his response: "I've never forgot Mr. Bordo. Even in his thirties when he was directing us I thought he was overqualified to be teaching high schoolers and should be leading some famous orchestra instead. Kudos for him in staying on at the level he was at and impacting so many kids of our age." Thank you Mr. Bordo!

Mr. Bordo, you were a great inspiration to me! Our world at Forsythe was richer for your presence and guidance in concert band. Playing flute and sometimes piccolo, you helped instill the need to keep trying, practice regularly and always do one's best. May your memory be for an inspiration and blessing for others' good deeds. May loving memories shield your family from the harsh sadness cutting deeply right now. Thank you, Mr. Bordo!
