Dr. Newcomb was my husband's physician. We also considered him our friend. As a physician, his number one goal was to make sure that the veterans got the care they so much deserved and that the families were also cared for. He was intelligent, kind, and highly respected by patients, families, and staff at the Durham VA Medical Center. I know this because not only am I the spouse of a veteran, I am also a veteran and an employee at the Durham VAMC.
My sincere condolences to the family. The work he has done, speaks for him.

Tom was a mentor to my husband while serving in San Antonio. He was humble, quiet and extremely intelligent but never obnoxious about his accomplishments. He was a sweet and gentle man whom we are proud to have had as a friend. We will see him again in our heavenly home. Prayers to the family he leaves behind.

Our prayers are with you. He was a great leader at the Durham VA for many years and always left those who interfaced with him frequently with special words of wisdom. We give thanks for all he did.
