I was reminiscing recently about the many summers that Aunt Esther and my mother spent waitressing at their father's restaurant in Tryon, NC. I was a young boy at the time and enjoyed all the attention she gave me. Through out the years, she had a fondness for me that was always warm and kind. Thank you Aunt Esther.

After hearing about my Aunt Esther's transition, I for some reason thought about the many times I had dinner at her home in North Miami Beach. She was a gracious host and prepared wonderful meals for her family. I knew to anticipate a surprise and look forward to seeing the latest kitchen gadget or gizmo. It was at one of these gatherings I was introduced to mouthwatering, handmade croissants and, wonder of wonders, an electric carving knife! Esther was a loving wife, mother, sister and aunt. It showed in the manner she cared for her family. Thank you Esther for those sweet memories.
