ROCKWELL - Lonnie Jackson (Jackie) Norman Jr., 58, passed away suddenly at his home on Tuesday, December 4, 2018. Born on January 27, 1960 in Gaston County, he was the son of the late Lonnie Jackson Norman, Sr. and Gerene Barnett Norman. Also preceding him in death were his sister, Elizabeth Lorene Norman Whistnant and four grandchildren, Jason, William and Amyah Norman and Jarryd Norman.
Mr. Norman was a graduate of North Gaston High School and Gaston College. Jackie was a retired EMT with Gaston County EMS and a former member of the Dallas Rescue Squad. He spent the past fourteen years as a driver with US Xpress. Jackie was a devout Christian, spending much of his time serving his Church with his gift of music as a bass player and drummer. He loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren and especially his precious fur baby, Jasmine, who was a constant companion no matter what he was doing. He also loved all his other fur babies as he was passionate about all animals. He was an avid Carolina Tarheel fan and loved Nascar Racing. His hobbies included target shooting, woodworking, arts and crafts of which he loved drawing, and he thoroughly enjoyed listening to music. He was also involved with the Carolina Superstangs and The Blue Mustang Registry.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sandra Michael Norman of the home; sons Jeremy Shawn Norman (Lillian) of Charlotte; David Joel Norman of Fallston; Christopher Lee Norman (Deanna) of Ranlo; Matthew Tyler Norman (Dena) of Gastonia; Jessie Daniel Norman (Fiance, Brittany) of Ranlo, and Joshua Adam Michael, United States Navy in Norfolk, VA. He is also survived by his daughter, Lianna Rhea Michael of the home, and special "son" Chris Bledsoe (Meggan). Also surviving him are his sisters, Deborah (Punkin) Norman Welch (John) of Gastonia and Deanna Norman Williams of Rock Hill, SC along with fourteen grandchildren; Tyler, Devan, Jaden and Aldon Norman, Holden, Madilyn, Landon, Brookleigh and Elizabeth Norman; Malachi, Emmaleigh, and Colton Norman; and Charles and Lillie Bledsoe.
Visitation for Mr. Norman will be on Thursday, December 6, 2018 from 12:00-2:00PM at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, 1420 North Main Street in China Grove, NC. The service will immediately follow in the Chapel of Linn-Honeycutt officiated by Pastor Steve Sprinkle of China Grove Church of God and Pastor Timothy Hargrave of Seven Lakes, NC. Burial will follow at West Lawn Cemetary in China Grove.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations can be made to Toys for Tots or to China Grove Church of God, 413 North Franklin Street. China Grove, NC 28023.

I saw a Mustang like Lonnie's and the memories of him came flooding. He was one heck of a character, and a caring man.

Lonnie loved to laugh and enjoyed so many things in Life. A wonderful man, taken too soon. Lonnie will remain in our hearts and we each are blessed to have shared moments with him.
