TUSCOLA Elga Ray Martin, age 76, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, while at his home in Tuscola, Texas. He was born on Oct. 19, 1936, in London, Texas, to the late Clarence O. and Elsie (Hight) Martin. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, in Little Saline Cemetery in London, Texas, under the direction of Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home of Tuscola with a eulogy by Brian Martin. Ray proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Toledo CA-133 during the Korean War. On April 23, 1967, he married Brenda (Dutton) Martin and together they raised four sons. In 1960, in San Antonio, Ray started his lifelong career in the food service industry as a service technician. He moved to San Angelo in 1976, with his family and began working at Angelo Refrigeration and Restaurant Supply until 1987, when he then formed Ray Martin Restaurant Equipment Company, employing his wife, his little brother and all four of his sons. In 1990, he made the decision to return to Angelo Refrigeration and Restaurant Supply, where he worked for a total of 31 years until his retirement. During his career, Ray made many special friends all over West Texas and took great pride in helping them fulfill their dream of opening a restaurant.
