Jesuesa Lewright Obituary

Jesuesa "Susie" Lewright

Austin

Jesuesa "Susie" Lewright, of Austin, Texas, walked into the arms of the Lord on Sunday morning after living a rich and vibrantly happy 90 years.

Susie was born on December 25, 1927 in Refugio County, Texas. She was small in stature, but a giant force in the lives of all who knew her. Susie married the love of her life, Jack Lloyd Lewright in Victoria, Texas on October 18, 1947. Susie lived a long and full life; she was loving, a natural nurturer, kind beyond words, open minded, forward thinking, non-judgmental and always the life of a party. Susie never knew a stranger and her home was always open to anyone in need. She enjoyed traveling, bingo and regular trips to any slot machine.

Her greatest joy in life was time spent with her parents, siblings, nieces, nephews and especially her role as a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Susie is preceded in death by her parents, Teodoro and Reymunda Santos Rodriguez (Silva): husband, Jack Lloyd Lewright; brothers, Gumecindo (Ruby), Teodoro, Jose (Rachel) and Antonio; brother-in-law, Rudolph Hernandez.

Susie is survived by her children, William Lewright (Tzadcan), Dr. Jack Lewright (Ginger), Terry Lewright, Rina Vasquez, Joe Lewright (Tami), Lora Estrada (Marty), and Michelle Lewright (Billie); sisters, Mrs. Teresa Hernandez, Mrs. Genevieve Martinez (Robert), Mrs. Micaela Aleman (Refugio), and Mrs. Toni Bocanegra (Robert); sister-in-law, Beatrice; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved her dearly.

Honoring Susie and serving as Pallbearers will be her grandsons, William Lewright, Bryan Lewright, Brent Lewright, Michael Vasquez, Joseph Lewright, Jack Lewright, Janzen Lewright and Joshua Lewright.

Special thank you to Nurse Next Door Home Care Services-Traci Boyle and her loving Staff, Hospice Austin and St. Paul's Eucharistic Ministry.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm followed by the Recitation of the Holy Rosary on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Avenue. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 am, Thursday, February 22, 2018 at St. Paul Catholic Church, 10,000 David Moore Road, Austin, Texas. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.

Not sure what to say?

I feel so badly that I did not reach out to you all sooner. Am so sorry to hear of Susan passing. She was such a happy, sweet and caring person. No one could ask for a better neighbor. She and I would converse at times and she mentioned her son that lived far away and did not get to see often, but would always send her a flower bouquet for Mothers Day. That conversation came up because one of those Bouquets was left with me since no one was at her house that day. She loved all her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. She was really happy when I think she said was her grandson who stayed with her for a while. He was like 8 years old. She loved him being there. I know you all have lots more memories. Just thought I would share these ones with you all. May she rest in Heaven. I loved your mom.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Lewright family. I am thankful to have seen Susie during my last visit to Austin and, of course, she had a smile for me. My family and the Lewright family have been part of each other's lives for a very long time. Susie will be missed by many but knowing she will be with her "beloved" Jack gives me peace.

We met Susie & your dad on our first trip to Coushatta w/ Golden Hearts of St.Paul, would see them there after in church. After the passing of her husband, her and I continued to talk & share hugs & blessings.
She always had a smile for me, I would look forward to see her in church mostly every Sunday. I will miss her dearly. But I know they are rejoicing together in the presence of Jesus.
Our condolences to each of you & in our prayers.
