Thank you, Lee, for two intense years of knowing you, sharing poetry with you, and spending endless evenings talking about horses, the sunlight of the Southwest, The Man Who Killed The Deer, campfire smoke at our little farm near Nacogdoches, and the rest. You directed my thesis and pushed me along to write the short stories that formed its topic (the first "creative" thesis for the graduate English department). I can't think of anybody who influenced my thinking like you did, and for that I will always be grateful in a way you will never know. My love to your two kind daughters--wonderful memories of laughter. Your father loved you so much.

Dr. Schultz was one of my professors at SFA in 1991. He changed my life and made it better. He taught me that I ... He changed my life, and I wish I could have told him that. He was a fine, fine teacher.

Lee and I met in grad school many years ago and had been close friends ever since. We had a mutual admiration for Hemingway's prose and the poems Of William Carlos Williams. He was a great companion who loved horses, motorcycles,
and llterature and could talk about them with insight and passion. He was also a terrific teacher and editor of RE:AL. I will miss him, a truly good man and great friend.

For the years I've known Lee, he's always cared for others above himself. My conversations with him were always full of fun and curiosity. I will surely miss talking with him about computers and current events. May his rest be in peace. Love you, Uncle Lee
