Mack Harris Woodward
San Angelo
Mack Harris (Mutt) Woodward was born in San Saba County, Texas, on Jan. 1, 1919 and passed away in New Braunfels, Texas on Feb. 4, 2018, at age 99. He and Mary Josephine (Jo) Parrent were married Oct. 6, 1941 and spent 71 years together. She passed away in 2013 and he never stopped missing her.
He is survived by three daughters, Linda Gayle Gerlach, Joyce Ann Webb and Susie McAlpine; six grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Mutt and Jo lived and worked at farming and ranching around Eldorado and retired and relocated to San Angelo in the mid-80s. In their retirement years they were members of several RV Camper Clubs. They traveled most of the United States, including spending time visiting family in California, enjoying shows at Branson and seeing the sights of New York City. They worked diligently on the family genealogy, compiling extensive records of the family histories. Every year they would meet up with friends and spend a month on Lake Amistad, filling their freezers for a big fish fry. They were always ready for a game of 42 and, even in his nineties, Mutt was hard to beat.
They were faithful members of Johnson Street Church of Christ, never missing a service when they were able to attend. Mutt lived a full and rich life, making friends everywhere he went and endearing folks with his wonderful, captivating stories of past times. He could talk for hours about fun and interesting and dangerous times he and his brother had growing up. We would often take road trips to the places of the past and he would relive those wonderful times of his youth. His memory was sharp and every detail clearly recalled. He had a great sense of humor that was appreciated by everyone around him. Mutt was a man of honor and integrity, with a quiet and patient manner. He loved having friends and family around, and was always ready to help. He had a generous spirit, always giving to meet the need. He felt that he was blessed throughout his life and was forever thankful for God's guidance and care.
A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at Johnson's Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 3:15 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at the Mertzon Highway Church of Christ in Eldorado. Burial will follow in Eldorado Cemetery.
Pallbearers are, William Webb, Nick Vasquez, Sly Mendoza, Larry Cerda, James Lloyd and Jacob Swindle.

Saddened to hear of the passing of Mutt Woodward. We have many sweet memories of family reunions with Mutt, Jo and family. We last saw him at Jo's funeral. They were always such a pleasure to be around. Truly a southern gentleman.. his gentle, quiet spirit made you know he was truly a Christian who was in tune with his Heavenly Father. Our love and prayers for you girls and your families..
