I read Diet's book "Things We Couldn't Say" several years ago and have never forgotten her riveting account.

As I read, I shivered at the heart pounding stress of her time in the Resistance and wondered how she held on, not for days, but years in that crucible. An answer comes when Diet laughs at the strange twist of fate that had them, on their knees, praying for God's help to rob a coupon office.

Her faith, courage, and humor will remain indelibly with me. Godspeed, Diet.

Truly a life well-lived; her legacy is historic, her courage inspiring. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

For those days when life's everyday challenges seem insurmountable, long may she live in our memory as an example of fortitude and grace. A fellow chocolate lover and admirer.

Hi, just minutes ago I finished reading Things We Couldn't Say. I had started it weeks ago. I wanted to know if Diet was still alive. It is one of those "God moments" to find out that I was becoming acquainted with her during her last days. Her book and Corrie Ten Boom's ministry have had a great impact on me, and I intend to tell others how they served the Lord throughout their lives. I'm so grateful for the wonderful heritage given to me by my Dutch ancestors and the Christ I accepted in faith in Orange City, Iowa. I am so grateful for Diet and am praying for you as you mourn her passing and you celebrate her new life in Heaven.
