Jager, James James Jager, age 94, passed on to his eternal reward on July 11, 2019. He was born June 23, 1925 in McBain, Michigan to Bert and Tjabeina (Stryker) Jager. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Doris Allen Jager; his daughter, Gloria Jean (Jim) Beckstrom; grandsons Sean (Mary) Dykhouse and Justin (Treva) Dykhouse; and step- daughter, Barbara Allen Kuyper (Mark). He is also survived by sisters Ann Woltjer, Fannie Timmer, Ada Louwsma, and brother Peter (ElDonna) Jager; plus several nieces and nephews. Mr. Jager grew up in Imlay City, Michigan, where he met and married Janet Boomsma in 1946. She preceded him in death on May 5, 2002 after 56 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his sisters Nellie and Beatrice, and brothers John and George. Mr. Jager ran his own business in the Chicago area until 1957 when he moved his family to Grand Rapids, Michigan to attend Calvin College and earn a Bachelor's degree. He then earned a Master's degree from Michigan State University. He taught in the Grandville Public School System for 27 years. Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 in the Chapel at Sunset Manor, 725 Baldwin, Jenison, Michigan. Relatives and friends may meet the family starting at 12:30 p.m. for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Grandville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Spectrum Health Hospice, 750 Fuller Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503, or to Sunset Manor, Reflections Unit, 725 Baldwin St., Jenison, MI 49428.
